standing in the gap between 2022 and 2023

We’ve been inundated lately with all the posts about standing in the gap between two years, and just how weird a week this is. Christmas lends so many into such a hustle and bustle and then, just like that, it’s over. I wish we could dwell in the true meaning of Christmas a while longer instead of unwrapping the last gift, taking out the final trash bag of wrapping paper and ribbon and preparing for New Years Eve.

Can you find the thankfulness of Thanksgiving any longer?.
Life, and it’s pre-made schedule lends to severing the ties of one holiday to another, and I wish we weren’t so programmed to the world’s intent.

I’m trying to linger in gratefulness for all God’s granted me this year, while not forgetting what a sacrifice He made giving us His only Son, and caring so deeply for me to grant me the desires of my heart.

While we’re landed in the in between of two years, let’s rest in what God did in us and our families this year and look hopefully into what He’ll do in this next. God does such great work in us, in and through the hard times. He allows us to scrape the bottom so He can fill what He emptied.

I’ve been guilty of writing my own plan, knowing His is so much grander than anything I could ever design for myself. I’ve lived the greatest of years when I allowed Him to take control while I relinquished the reigns. Even in the hardest of moments where I could barely catch a breath, looking back, those were some of His grandest moments. Those were the breaths when He knew He had me, and had my attention and I was truly living in His moment, not mine. Those are the breaths that made me.
